Assistant Chief Bryan Cox

Assistant Chief Bryan Cox has served with the Chandler Police Department since October 1997.  As an officer, Assistant Chief Cox worked in patrol and as a field training officer until he was promoted to detective in August 2001.  As a detective, Assistant Chief Cox worked in the Financial Crimes Unit, and also conducted asset forfeiture investigations.

In 2005 Assistant Chief Cox was promoted to Sergeant and worked patrol for a year before being assigned to the Main Station as the Administrative Sergeant.  While there, Assistant Chief Cox developed the Civilian Teleserve Unit and the Patrol Detention Officer Unit.  In August 2006 Assistant Chief Cox was selected to be the Financial Crimes Detective Sergeant where he worked to increase the efficiency of identity theft and embezzlement investigations.

Assistant Chief Cox was promoted to Lieutenant in October 2010.  As a lieutenant, he was assigned to Field Operations as a Patrol Watch Commander and the Fleet Operations Lieutenant.  In 2014 Assistant Chief Cox was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Bureau Persons Crimes Division where he supervised the Robbery-Homicide Unit, Family Crimes Unit, Sex Crimes Unit, Computer Crimes Unit, and the Victims Services Unit.  Assistant Chief Cox also worked in the Professional Standards Section as the Unit Commander where he supervised the Background & Hiring Unit and Internal Affairs Unit.

Assistant Chief Cox was promoted to Commander in 2015 and served as the Executive Officer for the Office of the Chief and the Main Precinct Commander for three years. He was promoted to Assistant Chief in September 2018 where he oversaw the Professional Services Division.  On January 1, 2023, Assistant Chief Cox was assigned to oversee the newly created Investigations Division.

Assistant Chief Cox is a graduate of the 260th session of the FBI National Academy. He holds a graduate certificate from the University of Virginia, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University.  Assistant Chief Cox has been involved with many committees and boards within the organization, community, and state.  Assistant Chief Cox also volunteers much of his time in the schools and community.
