Internships are available to college and technical students who are considering a job in law enforcement.  The Chandler Police Department requires interns to be enrolled in coursework relevant to their internship with an internship component.  Interns will gain meaningful and practical work experience while developing their professional skills.  The Chandler Police Department does not offer paid internships.

Successful competition of a background investigation, including polygraph exam and fingerprint clearance, is required.  The application packet for your designated section of interest should be completed and sent to the address listed on the application.

Submissions of Applications

Applications are accepted the semester prior to when the internship is completed.  The application will be processed at the beginning of the Spring for Summer and Fall internships.  Applications will be processed at the beginning of the Fall semester for the Spring and Winter internships.  Turning in an application does not guarantee a position.  Internships are awarded based on qualifications and an interview process.  Please see the application for a specific section for additional requirements.

Internship Duration

Internships are typically the length of the semester, based on the college or technical school requirements.  Requirements for hours worked per week vary for each section, check on the individual page for details.  If an intern would like to continue volunteering once their internship requirements are complete, they may do so by applying to be a volunteer.
