The Chandler Police Department received funding from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety to augment current staffing for additional DUI enforcement officers to concentrate enforcement on and near holidays. The traffic unit currently has five (5) officers dedicated to DUI enforcement. This funding will allow additional officers to remove alcohol and drug impaired drivers from the roadways in an effort to reduce DUI related crashes, injuries and fatalities. The grant and the monthly enforcement began in December 2010 and will run through September 2011.
