The Chandler Police Motorcycle Unit received $30,000 in funding from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety which has been used to staff the roadways with Traffic Unit Officers who have focused on seatbelt use. The traffic unit has been conducting monthly enforcement at intersections known to have the highest accident rates in an effort to educate the public on the use of seatbelts and to reduce collisions in those areas. The grant and the monthly enforcement began in December 2010 and will run through September 2011.
