The Technology Section implemented a number of changes throughout 2018. The Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system had its first major upgrade since it was implemented in 2012. This included database and software code changes that enhanced functionality for our 9-1-1 dispatchers. It also provides the basis for coming enhancements to the Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) and Mobile Report Entry (MRE) components housed in our patrol vehicle fleet.
Additionally a new property tickler module was developed with the Department’s records management and report writing system vendor, Versaterm. This module helps facilitate the timely review of seized property so it may be disposed of in an efficient manner.
Police Technology made numerous enhancements and system application upgrades in 2018 including a new Quartermaster application, Database remodel for the Department’s employee web application (PDInfo), a notification system that informs partner multi-housing managers regarding criminal events in their complexes, electronic Trespass Enforcement Program (TEP), and electronic Extra Duty Timesheets tracking. Additionally, enhancements were made to various automated reporting forms, including the Department’s jail log, monthly performance measures, and citation amendment request.
In concert with the Communications Section, four new 9-1-1 workstations were added over the past year.
The Public Safety Training Center (PSTC) phase 1 was completed which included the installation of alarm and security systems, shared networking, new voice-over-internet-protocol (VOIP) phones, and multimedia implementations throughout the new facility. Additionally, 2018 saw the completion the Family Advocacy Center – which necessitated a number of technological enhancements.
